Product Details
+Native to South Africa, Haworthia fasciata 'Zebra Plant' is an exceptional succulent for beginners with dark green leaves and horizontal white, bumpy stripes on the outer side. With an upward growth habit, each fleshy leaf comes to a tapered point, similar to an aloe, and the entire slow-growing plant has the potential to reach up to 8 inches tall and wide.
This succulent’s ability to not only tolerate, but thrive, in partial shade conditions makes it extremely well-suited to life in a less sun-drenched space, which describes many interior conditions! Too much bright sun exposure can cause the leaves to first take on a reddish hue from stress, before eventually turning white and drying out from sunburn. With typical succulent water needs, this variety will thrive when watered according to the ‘soak and dry’ method, and prefers porous soil in a well-draining pot. Though it is not prone to many pests, good ventilation around the leaves and soil surface will help to ward off any signs of rot. Further, ‘Zebra Plant’ is not cold hardy beyond Zone 10, and must be protected from freezing temperatures.
This variety produces offsets readily when given suitable growing conditions, as well as sending up thin flower stalks bedecked with small white or pink blooms in the fall months.
